Welcome to Ottenby!
On the southern point of Öland you can enjoy a unique landscape with beautiful views of seals, fallow deers, white-tailed eagles and birds of all sorts. Ottenby actually is one of Sweden´s top bird areas. Here you can get to know birds in an exciting way by taking a guided tour. In the visitor centre naturum Ottenby on the southern point of Öland you can find guided tours in English that
will help you to get to know the landscape around you. The staff is also available to answer your questions and to help you experience Ottenby in the best possible way.
If you are more curious about birds you can also visit Ottenby bird observatory. About 20 000 birds are ringed here every year and during the high season you can follow the staff on a guided tour. The nature reserve Ottenby is a part of the World Heritage site Agricultural landscape of Southern Öland. For centuries the large numbers of grazing animals in the meadows in the area have created a landscape that many species enjoy.
Today Ottenby is a place where you can explore a rich diversity, climb the highest lighthouse in Sweden – Långe Jan – or simply sit back and enjoy a meal at the local restaurant Fågel Blå. If you would like to buy a souvenir as a memory from your visit at Öland you can visit the local shop Naturbokhandeln Ottenby.
