On the southern cape of Öland you can enjoy a unique landscape with beautiful views of seals, fallow deer, white-tailed eagles and birds of all sorts. Ottenby is actually one of Sweden´s top birding areas. You can learn more about birds by taking a guided tour. In the visitor centre (naturum Ottenby) you can join guided tours in English that will help you to get to know the landscape around you. The staff are also available to answer your questions and to help you make the most of your Ottenby experience.

If you are more curious about birds you may also want to visit Ottenby Bird Observatory. About 20,000 birds are ringmarked here every year and during high season you can follow the staff on a guided tour. Ottenby nature reserve is a part of the World Heritage site known as Agricultural landscape of Southern Öland. Over the centuries, the large numbers of grazing animals in the meadows in the area have created a landscape where many species flourish.

Today Ottenby is a place where you can explore diverse nature, climb the highest lighthouse in Sweden – Långe Jan – or simply sit back and enjoy a meal at the local restaurant Fågel Blå.
